Job description
Founded in 1957, the Ottawa Safety Council (OSC) is a well-established leader in road safety education and services. We are a vibrant, charitable, not-for-profit organization. The Program Assistant will Report to Director of Programs and is responsible for a variety of programming and administrative duties including recruitment activities, Crossing Guard scheduling, prioritizing phone calls/emails, and aiding in the delivery of the Crossing Guard Program, as a part of the School Zone Safety Team at the OSC.

Job requirements
Police Records Check (PRC) with the Vulnerable Sector – PRC can be completed during the application process. Costs associated with the PRC will be reimbursed by the OSC after three (3) months of active employment. Employment offer conditional upon a valid PRC - required
· English proficiency is required, bilingualism in English and French or other languages an asset.
· Driver’s license with a good driving record and access to a reliable vehicle – required.
· Secondary School Diploma required, ideally post-secondary education in office administration, human resources, customer service, and / or hospitality would be an asset.
· Experience with community engagement / recruitment an asset
· Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
· Able and willing to learn the OSC-preferred platforms and programs used
· Strong written and verbal skills
· Works well with others and takes direction and criticism in a positive manner.
· Highly effective project management, prioritization, multi-tasking, and time management skills to meet deadlines.
· Always maintains a calm and professional demeanor.

· Adobe Illustrator and/or Canva an asset
Working Conditions
· Ability to occasionally lift items as heavy as 50 lbs.
· Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
· Local travel is occasionally required.
· May require occasional weekend or evening work.
· Availability to work Monday to Friday in a hybrid work environment.
